I'm FREE!!!!!

Okay, so maybe free is a bit of an overstatement. I'm free from crutches... as long as walking without them doesn't cause me too much pain. So far, so good! But I'm verrrry slow. I'm sure that will improve quickly. I'm also free to swim! And ride my bike... stationary... with low low resistance. But it's a step! And last, but certainly not least, I can DRIVE!!! My friends have all been great about getting me around town, but I'm ready to not dependant on others :)
Hopefully, this will mean I can get some house cleaning done... not an easy thing to do when one leg is out of commission, and two hands are occupied!
I'm not cleared to run until I go back and see him (in like 6 weeks), but I can handle that. And that will still give me enough time to get in decent shape for some late fall/early winter races. I miss races.
So that's the ankle update! Here's to a quick recovery and pain free return to the activities I love. I haven't done anything competitive in 9 months, and it's slowly crushing my competitive spirit. Don't worry, it will be revived.
Happy Thursday!

About Me
I am a Family Medicine intern at a community hospital in Indiana, navigating the new world of being a physician. I am privileged to work in a field I love, where every day is a new and unpredictable challenge.
I am not only a doctor, but also a cyclist, runner, DIYer in the making, lover of the outdoors, traveler, and human.
Human, MD is a glimpse into the world of a young doctor who is just trying to stay true to herself through the grueling whirlwind of residency.
