WHO I AM:
I am a Family Medicine intern at a program in Indiana. In July, I started life as a physician, and after residency I plan on doing a sports medicine fellowship. I like the idea of treating the whole athlete, and also being able to take care of the normal medical problems people deal with on a daily basis. Some special interests are high school athletics policy, concussion care, and of course general musculoskeletal medicine. Right now my plan is to stay in academics after residency as I like to teach, like the idea of working with division 1 athletes, and want to continue to see a normal non-sports primary care population. But plans change, so we'll see where that one is in a coupe of years...
WHAT I DO:
I work a lot... it comes with the residency territory. But I also work hard to continue doing the things I enjoy, which are the only way I can stay sane working 60-80 hours a week. When I'm not at the hospital or clinic, I keep busy doing lots of things outside. You can find me on the weekends running, going for long bike rides, working on one of many house projects that are partially done, or on a roadtrip to... anywhere. Adventure, travel, and spontaneity are some of my favorite things. I get antsy if I haven't been on a plane in 6 months, and my passport is always close by, just in case... I also love cooking and baking, reading, going for walks, drinking coffee, playing with my cat, rock climbing, photography, organization (odd, I know), farmers markets, and puppies. These things make regular appearances in my free time.
WHERE I'VE BEEN:
I was born in Euclid, OH and moved to Lancaster, PA when I was 3. I lived there until going to college in Collegeville, PA, and then moved south to NC for medical school. Recently, I've moved to Indiana for residnecy, and I'll spend at least three years here. In between I've traveled throughout the country and world, and many of those experiences have shaped who I have become and what it important to me. Some of the most memorable places I've been include Taize, France; Geneva, Switzerland; Seattle, WA; South Africa; Lesotho; Tucson, AZ; San Fransisco, CA; New York; NY, Tuscany, Italy; Boston, MA; Great Barrington, MA; Nashville, TN; Mexico City, Mexico. There are more, but those are some of the best. Ask for stories.
WHERE I'M HEADING:
Nowhere for a few years... Right now I'm happy to think about gettin settled, not picking up again. But in three years, at the end of residency (or maybe 4, at the end of fellowship...), I'll likely be heading somewhere new to start a "real job". Like always, I'm open to going somewhere new. While I don't have a particular place I'd like to be, there are certainly places that are low on my list! I'd like to avoid areas with a propensity for natural disasters, and weather that keeps me from doing things. So hurricaine, tornado, flood, earthquake, and forest fire areas are out. Other than that, I could end up anywhere ;)

About Me
I am a Family Medicine intern at a community hospital in Indiana, navigating the new world of being a physician. I am privileged to work in a field I love, where every day is a new and unpredictable challenge.
I am not only a doctor, but also a cyclist, runner, DIYer in the making, lover of the outdoors, traveler, and human.
Human, MD is a glimpse into the world of a young doctor who is just trying to stay true to herself through the grueling whirlwind of residency.
